1. How long will your power package operate my computer system?
1. Each power package will offer different results. Please see below for more information. For detailed information please contact a CompuCaddy sales representative.
a. NMP-001 – implements two 17 AMP batteries which are exchanged in a continuous cycle to provide power to computer system. One battery is used on the cart while the other battery is charging. The NMP-001 was designed to be used with only one peripheral and will generally run a laptop computer or pentablet for 10 – 18 hours, depending on use. Please see power save recommendations.
b. NMP-002 – implements one 17 AMP battery. The NMP-002 was designed
to be used with only one peripheral and will generally run a laptop
computer or pentablet for 6+ hours. Because the charger is mounted
on the cart with the battery, the battery can be charged at any time.
c. OPT-001 – implements one 33 AMP battery. The OPT-001 was designed
to be used with two peripherals. It can be used with a laptop and
DC compatible printer or DC compatible scanner, thin client and DC
compatible monitor, Tele Client with DC compatible monitor, All-in-one
unit and DC compatible printer or DC compatible scanner, etc. Because
the power requirements of these systems vary so greatly, it is difficult
to predict the amount of battery life one will receive. Generally,
when using two peripherals, the power supply will offer 7 – 16 hours
of continuous use. Because the charger is mounted on the cart with
the battery, the battery can be charged at any time.

2. What kind of batteries do you use?
2. CompuCaddy offers sealed lead acid batteries in two sizes: 12 volt 17 amp and 12 volt 33 amp. These are the same as what you will find in your car. They are not “trainable” batteries and do not need to be depleted before recharging.

3. How long will your batteries last?
3. When used correctly, the sealed lead acid batteries will provide approximately 200 to 1000 discharge/recharge cycles. Most customers find that when properly cared for their batteries last between 1 and 3 years.

4. Will the charger over charge the battery?
4. Our 6 amp smart charger was designed not to over charge the battery. Even when left attached to the battery, the charger will incorporate a “float” charge to ensure that the sealed lead acid battery is not overcharged.

5. How often should I charge the battery?
5. The sealed lead acid batteries should never be allowed to completely discharge. For this reason, be sure to charge your battery when your low battery indicator suggests to do so. Otherwise, it is not necessary to charge your battery at a specific interval.

6. What steps can I take to ensure maximum use of my battery.
6. Your battery should be properly cared for. Please follow the simple steps below to ensure maximum life of your battery.
a. Do not allow your battery to completely discharge. Deep discharge cycles are difficult for your battery to recover from. Always charge your battery when your low battery indicator signals you to do so.
b. Once you begin to charge your battery, it is best to completely charge through the full cycle. Though intermittent charging is possible, it is not always the best solution.
c. Batteries should not be stored in a discharged state. If a battery has been discharged for some time it may not readily take a charge. To overcome this, leave the charger connected and the battery should eventually begin to accept a charge.
d. Do not store your battery in a hot environment.
e. When in storage, batteries must be charged every six months, otherwise permanent loss of capacity might occur. To prolong shelf life, store batteries at 50 F or less.
